Cairngorms Field Explorer Jacket

The field jacket has always felt like the quiet workhorse of British outerwear — part soldier, part sportsman. It was born out of necessity, carried through rain, mud, & fog by officers in WWII & by gamekeepers on Highland estates. What’s always drawn me to it is its balance of utility & understated style — rugged, but never crude.

When we began designing ours, I wanted to create something that could live as easily in the Highlands as it could in Mayfair. We turned to Halley Stevensons in Dundee, a mill that’s been waxing cotton for over 150 years, & chose a weatherproof finish that repels the rain yet softens beautifully with wear. The four-pocket layout was non-negotiable — deep, reinforced, & purposeful — with hidden hand-warmers behind the flaps, born from too many cold mornings when the patch pockets were full. Antique brass hardware & reinforced seaming ensure durability, while the removable flannel liner makes it adaptable as the seasons turn.

The corduroy collar was one of my favorite details — soft against the skin, yet strong enough to turn against the Highland winds; with the waxed cotton fabric on the underside. In the end, the jacket became exactly what I’d hoped for — a refined companion built to face the elements with quiet confidence.
